My life has been a mixture
Of sad and happy times,
Replete with joys and sorrows
With riddles, quotes and rhymes.
I just can’t seem to figure
What all of this must mean.
It often leaves me flustered,
It often makes me scream.
Life, Life, Life.
Once a certain sadness had
Prevailed upon my soul,
I looked into the mirror
And saw myself grow old.
I pondered how this happened,
Of that I wasn’t sure.
All I knew was Father Time
Had slipped through my back door.
Life, Life, Life.
No one knows ’cause no one can
Predict for us what fate has planned.
I strolled down to the river
With thoughts of plunging in.
But I remembered preacher
Said suicide’s a sin.
So I just leaned back slowly
And gazed into the sky,
Grappled with mortality
As tears welled in my eyes.
Life, Life, Life.
Then suddenly I realized
It wasn’t only me.
Everyone grows older and
We pass eventually.
It’s all a part of living
We can not change the rules,
And he who plots do so
Is thinking like a fool.
Life, Life, Life.
No one knows ’cause no one can
Predict for us what fate has planned.
All I ask from up above
Is just a clean fair game,
The crowd to treat me kindly
And I’ll treat them the same.
Then as the horn is blowing
To sound my match is through,
I’ll leave this dark arena
With a different point of view.
Life, Life, Life.
